Overwhelmed!

As I write this post, I am somewhat panicking, so I am sorry if this becomes one big rant session. Here's the truth: I am terrified and overwhelmed. I am sure people are thinking right now, how can you be overwhelmed? You haven't done anything yet! Well, I find this to be the most overwhelming part. My plan is to take it one step at a time and try not to be stressed, but the hardest part for me isn't the projects and the planning, it's figuring out where to start.

I have no clue where to start. I don't know how to start finding vendors. I don't know everything that I am going to need. I don't know how to budget because I don't know what I will need. I am talking about little things, but the little things matter in my opinion. I don't know how I am supposed to find vendors in my budget. Google tends to yield zero results, I don't know anyone who has gotten married recently, and I don't really know what is available in Connecticut anymore. I have no problem calling tons of places, but I don't know how to find the names of those vendors. I am terrified I won't be able to find people that do a good job while still working within my budget. I know they are out there! How can I find them?

One of the biggest problems is that Connecticut is not a cheap place. It is expensive!! If I get someone not located in CT then it will be the same price because of travel costs. Ugh. If anyone has any advice, I NEED it. Badly. Really bady. Where do you find budget friendly vendors? Any Google technique tips?

  1. I know it's not that same, but I have always been one who is easily stressed out and overwhelmed by what i'm doing (mainly because I always put to much on my plate which is my fault). But anyway, My best way to relieve stress is to make lists. hundreds of lists. I think this would help you a lot so everything doesn't seem so disorganized. You can worry about one thing at a time as you get to it on the list. I found this for you online and I hope it at least provides a guide line check list. http://www.realsimple.com/holidays-entertaining/weddings/planning/wedding-planning-checklist-00000000000222/index.html OR this one, which is actually an interactive website list. http://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-checklists.html?pcode=ioenhl&gclid=CMTv9Y7Tk6wCFWJn5QodRj9voA I hope these help a little. As for google, a dash does A LOT when searching. example: "weddings- vendors in CT" It makes sure that weddings is the main priority in the sentence or the category. I'm sure that was a lot but when it gets overwhelming take 3 deep breaths (cleanses your liver!. One last suggestion is to get a notebook to write everything in. from more lists to angry scribbling, you'll never lose a thought. lots of love- megan

  2. Oh Megan, you and I seem to me cut from the same cloth. I am a HUGE HUGE HUGE list person and I have a half filled notebook already of different ideas and lists for the wedding. I have had more success and have decided to just mass attack. I am contacting every name that I come across and have been using process of elimination. It is time intensive, but it seems to be working.

As for the checklists and websites, I have seen some of those and have them bookmarked. They are helpful! Thanks so much for the advice and resources.

As for the googling, that comes more from Josh because he is a MASTER googler and can find anything that I ask him to, but he doesn't think it's worth it to do it yet. Men. I just want to get started! But I understand where he is coming from, the prices will change and variables for us will change, so we will see.

  3. Oh sweetie! It'll be okay. :) Believe it or not, Craigslist can be a great resource for finding vendors. You have to be really careful and screen the vendors you find there, but you can find great ones. :) Let me know if you ever need any help! I don't mind helping with research!

  4. Thanks so much Lindsie! You are so sweet. I troll Craigslist, but yeah, I needed to rant. I should have put a disclaimer or something on this post, but I guess that's what a blog is for: expressing your feelings... Oh well. Things seem to be a little better now.
